Swimming lessons

When I pick up Grandson P from school one of the first things he asks me is ‘Am I going swimming today?’ Followed by ‘I don’t want to go’.  Well to be honest I don’t really want to either. By the time he gets ready, changes at the swimming baths, dried off and redressed I am exhausted.

Anyway he has to go as he often stays in a villa with a swimming pool so it is very important that he can swim.  When he first got in the water he had two floats per arm, a flat float to hang on to and a lovely young instructor who held on to him as he struggles across the pool,

Well last week Grandson P managed to float on his back with only one set of floats on.  Yes it is all worth it and we are all very proud.

    Hi Lornae,

    Yes know how you feel.

I do the swimming lesson thingy every week. Manage to get the Poppit there for 1/2 hr before the lesson swim, then the 1/2 hr lesson and then 1/2 an hour after swim. She loves it but I get ever so tired for some reason.

Love to see her skimming through the water and her confidence building every week.

It’s great therapy for her and clearly she is getting so much more than just a swimming lesson.

I manage to get quite a bit of writing done at the same time, so I don’t waste time just sitting around. I get to spend some quality time with my granddaughter away from the computer, we have a dinner date, well Kentucky fried chicken afterward and she and I sleep well that night.

I’m enjoying these days as she is growing up so quickly and the day will come when these simple pleasures will be swapped for more “grown up stuff”…
